Vaquero: Genesis of the Texas Cowboy – Chisholm Trail Heritage Center

The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center will be hosting a new exhibition in celebration of America’s 250th. Join them all month long for “Vaquero: Genesis of the Texas Cowboy”.

The iconic American cowboy—synonymous with rugged independence and frontier spirit—owes much of its identity to the vaquero, the original Mexican horseman. The vaqueros were the first to drive cattle to Louisiana to supply meat during the American Revolution.
