This exhibit continues in November at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center. Mikel Davison is a local art teacher and former basketball coach, who creates unique one-of-a-kind art pieces using reclaimed materials, from cast off furniture, window frames and even old art canvases.
His work ranges from mixed media paintings to functional furniture. He adds whimsy to his work, as seen in the paintings of a black lab with a bluebird or other interesting objects, such as paper mache figures that are colorful and serve as conversation pieces. He also is an experienced woodcarver and creates the old cigar store front Indians.
His work will be for sale and is for all budgets. He will also have postcards and other small gift items available. This will be a unique exhibit and shopping experience for those looking for something eclectic to give as a gift during the holiday season.
This show is daily until Jan. 3, 2015. The Heritage Center’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
