Performances for the evening include “The Bald Soprano,” by Eugene Ionesco. This play will be performed by members of the Duncan High School Drama Department, including Beka Dean, Boston Brown, Baylea Brown, Tanner Gray, Rachel Hadlock, and Cody Conklin. Directed by drama teacher Alecia Day, the one act took 1st place at the Regional OSSAA One-Act Competition, qualifying for State Competition.
Also for your entertainment, “A Timely Maneuver,” by Emmett Loverde, directed by L. D. Jones, and performed by Elizabeth Flanders Pitts and Desmond Jones. The story is about arrow-stiff Jane, who is unpleasantly surprised when her reckless blind date, Reggie, sets an egg timer on their table. Five minutes later, the timer goes off, and Reggie makes a shocking proposition.
“Must the Show Go On?” by Carl L. Williams, directed by Sharon Burum, is another one act including cast members Lindsay Faught, Ben Hlavaty, Jan Bouma, and Desmond Jones. In this performance, last minute cast changes and a hapless tech worker, as well as a bad cold make for an interesting opening night.
“The Committee Meeting,” is a reader’s theatre directed by Ladd Polk and Gary Templeton. Five women are planning a church event. This play includes audience participation, and is guaranteed to entertain.
Producers for the Evening of Shorts are Susan Hadlock and Cindy Michel. Production Assistant is Taylor Dimery. Sound technician will be Chris Day.
Tickets will be for sale at the door. Cost is $10.00 for adults, and $5.00 for students or military with ID.
On April 18, 19, 20, 25, and 26, 2008, “On Golden Pond” will be performed at the Simmons Center. This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-fourth year. He is a retired professor with a failing memory and she is the perfect foil, delighting in the small things that have enriched their long life together.
Auditions for “On Golden Pond” will be held Sunday, March 2 and Monday March 3 from 7 pm – 9 pm at the Duncan Little Theatre downtown location 824 W. Main.
