The Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation (DAEDF) will host the Duncan Area Youth Engineering Contest for 7th – 8th grade Duncan students, as well as, those in the Red River Technology Center school district.
The middle school (7th-8th) race will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the Marlow Middle School Gym, 9th Street, Marlow, OK.
The contest is challenging for students, teachers, and parents. It requires critical thinking, design, drafting, and manufacturing a CO2 race car.
Major sponsors of the race include local partners/manufacturing businesses (Southern Machine Works, MIC Group, Wilco Machine & Fab, Cameron Measurement Systems, and Halliburton) as well as other additional sponsors (Total Safety, Lindley House Bed & Breakfast, and the Oklahoma Parks Department).
This contest is possible because of DAEDF’s partnership with our local middle schools, high schools, Red River Technology Center, and Cameron University. Duncan’s Dream It! Do It! initiative is a manufacturing career pathways associated with the Manufacturing Institute and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). This contest is also accomplished in connection with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and the Southwest Oklahoma Impact Coalition.
The high school (9th-12th) race will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Duncan High School Gym, 515 N 19th, Duncan, OK.
