Arts Explosion 2012, CTAC’s annual weeklong summer arts day camp for students entering fourth, fifth and sixth grades (or 8 to 14 years of age), will be held at the Stephens County Fairgrounds July 16-20, 2012. Students will enroll in four offered classes. Classes will begin each day at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:20 p.m. daily. There will be no childcare offered outside of these times.
CTAC is proud to announce four artists who will instruct at Arts Explosion 2012.
Dora Obuobisa is an inspiring artist with unique talents in leatherwork, batik, tie and dye, and traditional African crafts. For Arts Explosion she will lead a residency in tie dye design – CTAC welcomes Dora back and looks forward to the creations her residency will bring.
CTAC is excited to again welcome Dan Hazel to Arts Explosion. He is currently employed by Marlow Public Schools as the Art and Photography teacher and has participated in numerous art shows and taken home the top prize in many. Dan will be teaching pottery.
Dave Young became a kite enthusiast years ago when he and his son purchased a kite kit.
Dave’s residency will guide the students through the kite construction process and introducing them basic kite making and decoration as well as the history of kites.
New this year to Arts Explosion is: Therease Dacus – A Fletcher resident that has a love and talent for fiber arts. She has raised alpaca’s for the last 9 years and spun the yarn to use to make jewelry, clothing and wall art. This will be Ms. Therease’s 1st Arts Explosion and we cannot wait to see the wonderful art produced in her needle felting class.
On Friday, July 20th, there will be an arts showcase beginning at 5:30 p.m. The showcase allows students and instructing artists to show their work to families and friends.
Registration will open on the web @ www.chisholmtrailarts.com in late May. Registration is $60 then jumps to $75 on the first day of camp, July 16. For an additional $10 (added to the registration fee) the camper will receive a commemorative t-shirt. CTAC accepts cash, check or Visa/MasterCard.
