Chisholm Trail Heritage Center

The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center announced it will join museums nationwide in the Blue Star Museums initiative, a program that provides free admission to currently-serving U.S. military personnel and their families this summer.

The 2024 program will begin on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 18, 2024, and end on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, 2024. Find the list of participating museums at arts.gov/bluestarmuseums. Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and participating museums across America.

Toss a rope around a Longhorn steer; ride a bucking bronco; create your own brand or sit a spell near the campfire and listen to Jesse Chisholm as he offers advice to a young cowboy on his first cattle drive. In the multi-sensory Experience Theater, smell the wildflowers of a springtime Oklahoma prairie, listen to the thundering hooves of a cattle stampede, and feel the wind and rain on your face as a storm rages.

A surprise awaits you when you walk into the Garis Gallery of the American West. The intimate setting opens to an exceptional collection of western paintings and sculptures. Works by Frederic Remington, George Catlin, Charles Russell, Allan Houser and regional and local artists of note are on display in the permanent collection.

The Heritage Center offers rental facilities for meetings and special events. Contact the center for pricing information and availability.

Please note: Beginning May 6, 2021, the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center will be open Tues-Sun 10:00-5:00 PM. The museum will be closed on Mondays.
